Bayonet-Style Serpentine Dagger
This dagger is one of the most unique blades I’ve made. Pulling the 1.5 edged blade profile from historical bayonets, I designed this takedown blade to have a mechanical look with many facets and angles.
The blade is a serpentine multi-bar Turkish twist pattern with a high-contrast, mirror polish etch. The guard is a deceptively complex construction, with a steel base guard seamlessly wrapping around an antiqued brass collar. The main guard, pommel, and pommel nut are all matte black steel. The main handle is an heirloom fit piece of curly stabilized mango wood.
This piece is extremely light in the hand and is surprisingly comfortable. The hollow to convex edge grind makes it unbelievably effective as a piercing and slashing weapon. The black leather sheath has a serpentine cobra skin inlay which follows the flow of the Damascus pattern of the blade.
Steel: 1084/15N20 high-carbon Damascus
Handle: blackened steel, antiqued brass, stabilized curly mango
Length: 7.5” blade, 12.5” overall
